A serious incident occurred on Thursday, March 26 near Kalalau Beach at the end of the Kalalau Trail. At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, an Airborne Aviation helicopter crashed at remote Kalalau Beach on Kaua‘i’s Nāpali Coast.

What We Know So Far

According to preliminary reports from the Kaua‘i Fire Department (KFD), the aircraft was carrying one pilot and four passengers at the time of the incident. The crash resulted in three fatalities, with two others transported to Wilcox Medical Center for treatment.

The remote nature of Kalalau Beach required a massive coordinated response from multiple agencies, including:
