Memoirs of The Kalalau Trail

The Na Pali coast is located on the north coast of the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The Pali or cliffs, are a magnificently rugged region of deep and narrow valleys ending abruptly at the sea. Waterfalls and whitewater streams sculpt these narrow valleys while the sea carves sheer cliffs. Stone walled terraces, one thousand years old, are in the valleys where early Polynesians once lived and cultivated taro (the Hawaiian equivalent of the potato)

Travels with Bill and Nancy

Bill and Nancy traveled to Kauai with friends, Terry and Bev. One of the highlights of the trip was a 2-day hike on the Kalalau Trail on the Na Pali Coast. Following is Nancy’s Journal of the hike.

Not that we ever doubted it but The Kalalau Trail was listed atop the list of the best hikes in Hawaii in Outside magazine.

First Experience at Kalalau

My first experience at Kalalau was back in 2002 when my buddies and I made an “all guys” 10-day trip to Hawaii (The wives still have not forgiven us). We hit all the islands SCUBA Diving, Jet Skiing, Camping and Hiking.
