Number 1 on my top backpacking adventures is Kalalau Trail in Na Pali Coast State Park on Kauai. I absolutely love this beautiful, difficult, and treacherous trail. If you followed me for a long know my deep love for the Kalalau Trail. I have backpacked to Kalalau Beach twice, in 2014 and 2016 and I had permits for 2018 but Kauai experience devastating floods 3 weeks before I was suppose to backpack Kalalau for the 3rd time and the trail got shut down for a year. Perfect combination of beauty and danger with cliffs and multiple river crossing (that are prone to flash floods which have claimed many lives). This picture was taken by my friend karinrusick. .

The life of Kalalau💦
Not only was this waterfall so beautiful to look at all day😍, it was essential in providing us with drinking and cooking water🙏🏻. People drank straight from the falls, but we filtered it after seeing goats on the top🐐💩.
My favorite part of the evening was bathing🚿in the waterfall, but we had to be quick and careful of falling rocks which we heard happens often.
I think I need a waterfall shower in my life😍💦

The one adventures that I really want to do again is backpacking the Kalalau Trail to Kalalau Beach. I backpacked it 2014 & 2016, and had permits in 2018 before floods closed the trail for a year. This shot of Kalalau Beach was on the 2018 trip when I took a Na Pali Coast boat tour with Captain Aaron on napaliodyssey . Unfortunately I don’t think I have the time or money to get to Kauai in 2020 but somehow, someway I need to make it happen next year.

My favorite memory from 2019 would definitely be this one. Overlooking the kalalau valley on the Na Pali coast in Kauai.
This was the first time in 4 years that I felt an honest joy for life and a real stoke that I hadn’t felt in a very long time. 2015-2019 was spent pulling myself out of physical, mental, and emotional hell. And this was the first glimpse that I was finding my flow again. That I was healing. My physical health was getting better, and my joy for life and existence were returning.
I came to Kauai by myself to reset. To chill the fuck out and center and ground again. And in this moment I did.
& I won’t ever forget that.
2020 I’m ready for ya.
